We are going to be doing Science Camp in summer 2020 a little different this year. Given the concerns around Covid-19, and the need to follow regulations regarding social distancing, handwashing, wearing masks, ect., we have made the decision to conduct a Virtual Science Camp instead. There will be a need for STRONG parent/guardian involvement and supervision, as cutting with sharp items (ie. scissors) may occur, and you will need a partner to help execute some of the activities.
There will be a maximum of 20 registrants.
**Parents will need to come to the school and register their child(ren) and 1 or 2 packages containing the week's scheduled activities and materials will be sent out, depending on how many children are registered per household. Explanations will accompany each activity to explain the science behind the task.**
Videos of how to conduct the activities will be made and posted on a dedicated Facebook page. You will be able to share pictures or videos of your experience on this page as well. We encourage families to share what they have made, experienced, or created on this page.
You will not have to do everything all in one day, but we encourage you to finish the activities over the course of two weeks. Spread it out according to your time schedule and have fun with it! Please reuse materials as needed, as some items distributed will be usable for other activities.
At the end of the two weeks, a Zoom meeting "Show and Tell" will be held for children who have participated to showcase their findings and their STEM creations. Prior to the meeting, a Zoom link will be posted on the Facebook Group.
It is a new format, but we hope the children will have as much fun conducting and learning about these science activities at home, as they have in previous years of Science Camp!
