Notice to Parents & Guardians: Healthy Lunches and Snacks, No Junk Food Please!
Parents and Guardians, please ensure that the lunches and snack choices that you are sending are healthy and relatively sugar-free.
Do NOT send the following items:
Anything containing peanuts or nuts (be sure to check packaging first to see if it is nut free.)
Pop
Chips
Candy
Chocolate bars
Anything containing chocolate
Any snack that is extremely sugary
Gatorade/Powerade (contains extremely high sodium (salt) content. This drink is designated for people who are active and need to refill their electrolytes, otherwise the child is simply getting filled up with salt and may begin to cause internal organ issues, such as water-retention, blood pressure issues).
**We are trying to encourage healthy eating and snacking habits to promote Diabetes Awareness and reduction.
Many of these snacks are filled with either high sugar contents, or high sodium contents. Prolonged consumption of these snacks, sugary drinks, or high salt content drinks can eventually cause organ issues, and cause the body to have problems with insulin production and Diabetes-related problems can begin.
Great ideas for healthy snacking may include:
Vegetables (broccoli, celery, carrot slices (vegetables can be made into cute faces or characters with creativity)
Healthy crackers to go along with the vegetables.
Fresh fruit (once again, creative ideas can be googled to make the food look appealing and delicious in a kid-friendly look!)
Cheese strings, cheese cubes (add crackers to make little fun foods)
Applesauce in containers
Fruit in containers
Any healthy home-made food favorite can be sent in little lunch containers.
Ideas for healthy beverages:
Orange Juice
Apple Juice
Tomato Juice
Milk
Water
healthy Fruit Smoothies
**Please ensure that all of your meals, snacks and beverages are NUT-FREE, as we have severe-level Epi-Pen allergies. If you would like to substitute peanut-butter, please use WOW Butter or a suitable nut-free substitute and notify your child's classroom teacher to let them know what substitute you will be using, for the safety of the other children who have allergies!
We appreciate your cooperation and attention on these very important choices for your children!
We are trying to maintain their health and happiness in all areas!
