Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is critical to the academic success of your child. As a parent/guardian, it is your responsibility to ensure that your child is attending school. When your child is absent, you must notify the school with a valid excuse. This can be done by calling the school, texting/messaging the teacher or sending a written note on the next day when the child returns. The safe school arrival coordinator, Karen Somerville will call when your child is absent without an excuse. If your child is absent: - 3 days in a row without an excuse, the teacher will contact you and/or a letter will be sent home. - 5 days in a row without an excuse, the administration will contact you. - 7 days in a row with or without an excuse, the administration will contact you to set up a meeting to develop a plan to support your child’s increased attendance. - If your child misses more than 25 days, they pose a risk of being held back. All attendance records and documents are kept in the student cumulative records and will remain in the file. The purpose of a student attendance policy is to promote good attendance in order to develop positive lifelong learning patterns. A prolonged absence from school can have a negative impact on the academic and social development of a student and we do not want that.To ensure, your child is gaining a positive learning experience, they must be here.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school. Mrs. Beth McCarthy, Principal
